A remarkable early Detroit hip-hop artifact featuring the signatures of Eminem and Proof—two friends whose relationship helped shape one of the most important careers in rap history.

This original cut piece of vintage white T-shirt fabric is signed by Eminem using his early “Slim Shady” autograph, accompanied by a large hand-drawn sketch. Rather than simply signing his name, Eminem added a loose, middle finger drawing directly onto the fabric, giving the piece the feeling of something created spontaneously in the moment.

Alongside it is the autograph of Proof, Eminem’s longtime best friend, battle-rap partner, and eventual co-founder of D12. Proof was there years before the stadium tours and multi-platinum albums, encouraging Eminem to battle, perform, and continue pursuing music within Detroit’s underground scene.

That connection is what makes this piece especially compelling.

Eminem and Proof are permanently linked through the earliest chapters of Detroit hip-hop. Proof became one of Eminem’s closest collaborators and confidants, and their friendship remained central to the story of D12 as the group rose to international success during the early 2000s.

Visually, the piece has the raw character you would hope for from an artifact of this era. The irregularly cut shirt fabric, aging, original stitching, bold black “Slim Shady” inscription and drawing, and Proof’s contrasting blue-marker autograph all contribute to its unmistakably personal appearance. Proof also added “D-12” beside his signature, directly connecting the artifact to the group they built together.

Unlike a conventional signed photograph or manufactured collectible, this is something far more organic—a surviving piece of fabric signed and drawn on by two artists during an era when their story was still unfolding.
