Elsewhere on the page are looser head studies, two outline figure sketches, and multiple landscape exercises exploring foreground, shape, and tonal value.

The page feels like a snapshot of Kanye actively learning how to simplify forms, build faces, create depth, and control light and dark.

That makes it especially compelling as an origin artifact. Long before he became known for obsessing over composition, silhouettes, album artwork, fashion, and visual presentation, he was working through those same basic artistic ideas on paper.

This piece has recently been authenticated by JSA and will be accompanied by a physical LOA.

Specifications:

Artist: Kanye West

Era: Pre-fame / 1990s art-school period

Dimensions: 9" × 12"

Original facial and landscape art studies

Multiple portrait / head sketches

Multiple landscape and composition exercises

Includes handwritten notes such as “Foreground,” “Landscape,” and “Focus on Darks”

Executed primarily in graphite

Authenticated by JSA

Reverse stamped “Donda C.
